Investment
GATEWAY TO INVESTMENT (g2i) :
Private equity investment for early stage technology companies.
THE CREATIVE CAPITAL FUND :
equity investments of £75,000 to £500,000 in companies run by talented entrepreneurs and businesses in London’s creative industries. Every £1 invested by the CCF must be matched by at least £1 in equity from private investors on the same terms.

Loans
ONE LONDON LOANS : Unsecured loans for start ups in London of up to £7,500, and growth loans for businesses more than a year old of up to £20,000 linked to mentoring schemes.
SMALL FIRMS LOAN GUARANTEE :
Up to £250,000 of which 80% is guaranteed by government.
LONDON REBUILDING SOCIETY:
Loans for social enterprises.
PRINCES TRUST :
Loans for entrepreneurs aged 30 or under. Up to £4,000 for a sole trader, or up to £5,000 for a partnership, and grants of up to £1,500 and a test marketing grant of up to £250.
HIGH STREET BANKS :
Help to secure loans and overdraft facilities.

Grants
DEPARTMENT OF TRADE AND INDUSTRY RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT GRANTS : Grants of up to £20,000 for the development of a simple prototype of an innovative product or process; up to £75,000 for the development of new scientific or technical knowledge that may be useful in developing a new product or process; up to £200,000 for industrial research into a pre-production prototype of a technologically innovative product or industrial process.
KNOWLEDGE TRANSFER PARTNERSHIPS : Grants for work linking higher and further education with businesses developing products and services.
HACKNEY BUSINESS GRANT :
£3,500 to £5,000 to help businesses in Hackney grow, awarded through local competition every two months.
TAX CREDITS FOR RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT:
Reductions or cash back payments for profitable businesses spending more than £10,000 a year on R&D
SHELL LIVEWIRE : Young Entrepreneur Of The Year Awards provide cash sums of £10,000 or more to innovative businesses owned by people under the the age of 30.
CARBON TRUST :
Match funding of up to £250,000 to support the development and commercialisation of technology with the potential to reduce UK carbon dioxide emissions. A minimum 40% match funding is required from the business applying for the award.
EMERALD FUND :
Grants up to £40,000 to enable academics in selected London universities to establish the commercial potential of a concept resulting from their research.
INNOVATIONS FOR THE NATIONAL HEALTH SERVICE :
Proof of concept and partnership funding for the development of innovatory products and techniques of benefit to the NHS.
HEALTH TECHNOLOGY DEVICES PROGRAMME :
Match funding for collaborative research and development into medical technologies linking businesses and scientific partners.
WELLCOME FUND :
Grant support for medical innovation.
NESTA INVENTION AND INNOVATION AWARDS :
To turn original ideas into new products and services with awards of up to £200,000 (closed but reopening soon).
PROOF OF CONCEPT FUNDS :
Grants from £5,000-£25,000 for proof of concept work to ensure that ideas and technologies emerging from 24 of London’s Higher Education Institutions are tested and prepared for market
BRIAN MERCER AWARDS FOR INNOVATION :
funding for individuals or groups to develop an already proven concept or prototype in the areas of the built environment and nanoscience/ nanotechnology.
