MEDIA BREAKTHROUGH

A New Media Support Service for the White City Area Programme funded by LB Hammersmith and Fulham and London Development Agency

An exciting new service for start up and established businesses in the media, film, animation, photography, music and performance sectors providing business growth workshops, advice and mentoring, management skills, help to source grants, loans and private equity, innovation days, meet the buyer events and business networking that will increase levels of trade.

Every month introductory MEDIA BREAKTHROUGH days will help clients see their businesses through the eyes of buyers, customers, commissioning editors, festival selection panels, grant givers, lenders, investors and potential partners. These will lead to one to one sessions led by SFEDI accredited advisers and workshops on: media market trends; pitching, marketing and sales techniques; effective business planning and management skills; sources of funding, loans, equity and other support for media companies, along with coaching and practical help with applications; training in effective networking, presentation and pitching in the sector; and partnership building.

This service will strengthen the media cluster emerging in White City through a programme of: workshops and mentoring for start up and for successful media businesses; capacity building, access to grants, loans and equity workshops, leadership and management workshops, coaching and mentoring for established businesses; and ‘meet the buyer’, innovation days and increased networking for all companies.

There will be monthly MEDIA BREAKTHROUGH days in which clients are encouraged to see their media businesses through the eyes of buyers, grant givers, lenders and potential partners, who will be present, resulting in a self assessment, progressing to workshops led by SFEDI accredited advisers with media experience and one to one sessions (start up and existing) business reviews, based on a diagnostic and leading to action planning; workshops on media market research and trends; affordable marketing and sales techniques; effective business planning and management skills; sources of funding, loans, equity and other support for media companies, and coaching on applications; training in effective networking, presentation and pitching in the sector; and partnership building. 2 Increasing affordable workspace by complementing end extending existing action in White City and Park Royal to secure affordable office and studio space, and by operating an accommodation service through its web portal, and 3 increasing the level of innovation, through productivity and innovation days which showcase BAME and other media businesses in London whose successes are replicable for the client group of the project.

The first events will include media investor, media buyer presentations of how they assess companies who pitch ideas and work to them.
