| Overview
Recognised throughout Europe, the ECDL is a qualification that's designed to prove that you have a fundamental understanding of working with IT. The course gives you the knowledge for Module 1 of the ECDL and covers general concepts of IT, such as hardware/software and the main parts of a computer. You will also learn about the Internet and information networks, health and safety issues, security and viruses and copyright and data protection. As well as working towards gaining a valuable qualification, you'll learn skills you can put into practice straight away.
Prerequisites
Good practical knowledge of how to use a computer. You should be able to use a mouse and keyboard. A PC at home or work would be beneficial but not essential.

Objectives
• To introduce you to computer software and hardware.
• To develop and increase your confidence in using software applications and input and output devices.
• To show you how the essential features of the windows graphical user interface works and to introduce the different stages of software development.
• By the end of the course you will be aware of a variety of the basic concepts of I.T. including health and safety issues while using computers in the work environment.
• You will be able familiar with the data protection act, Intranets and extranets, WANs, LANs and e-commerce.
Qualifications
This course teaches module 1 of the 7 modules that comprise the ECDL. The ECDL is a qualification that's designed to prove that you have a fundamental understanding of working with IT.
