Overview
This course will enable you to develop a 3-day training course to meet organisational objectives. It is suitable for experienced trainers or those who have completed the Train the Trainer Endorsed Award and who wish to develop their skills in course design.

3 days (2 days training, 1 day assessment)
ILM Endorsement
This award has been endorsed by the Institute of Leadership and Management as meeting their quality standards. The assessments are externally verified by ILM.
Prerequisites
• Experience of business training (recommended minimum 50 hours over the last 12 months) or completion of the Train the Trainer ILM Endorsed Award
• General understanding of learning theory and how adults learn
• Basic IT skills (word processing, Internet)
• Good written and spoken English (for the purposes of assessment)
Objectives
You will
• Gain an understanding of the business impact of training
• • Develop methods of researching and impressing a client
• Develop an organisational needs analysis to identify training objectives that will meet business needs
• Learn how to measure learner competence by developing a training needs analysis
• Learn how to measure behaviour change in learners
• Develop an outline for a 3-day course in your specialist subject
• Improve your presentation skills
Price Per Course
£850 (plus VAT) for three days for one person, including ILM registration fee. (In order to run the class the minimum number of participants is 7 people.) Discount rates can be arranged for groups.)
Course times:
This 3 day course (18 hours) is run one day a week for three weeks. Each day is 9:30am-5.00pm.
Please note that there is approximately one hour pre-course work, three hours homework following the first day, and four hours preparation for assessment before the final day. .

Day 2
• Planning a course
• Impressing the client – presentation skills
• Overview of the ILM assessment process
Day 3 -- Assessment
• 20 minute observed presentation
• 60 minute written examination
Assessment
Assessment for the ILM endorsed award consists of responses to a given brief:
• Production of a 3-day course outline
• 20 minute observed presentation of the 3-day course outline
• Production of a template for an organisational needs analysis
• Production of a template for a training needs analysis
• A written 60 minute revision of your course outline in response to feedback on your presentation.
Successful candidates will be issued with a certificate by ILM for the endorsed award in course Design for Business.

A full range of materials is provided on CD, with handouts and references available for download from the course website.
Tutor
Alexis Pottinger has over 30 years’ experience in teaching and training, and is qualified to PGCE level. She has taught at all levels from infants to university level . Currently Training Manager at The Innovatory, she has specialized in adult education for the last 10 years both as a trainer and as a teacher-trainer. Alexis led a successful programme delivering City & Guilds 7307 and 7407 courses in teaching adults.
