Overview
This unit is designed to accredit competencies in using email and
Personal Information Management (PIM) software to receive
and transmit messages and attachments electronically,
and to set diary entries, call meetings, and organise
folders. Delegates will develop familiarity with the
software to be used and the concepts of network-based
communications, along with a sound understanding of
mailbox management and organizer features.
This course also provides the skills necessary to pass the ECDL Module 6 exam. ECDL is designed specifically for those who wish to gain a benchmark qualification in computing to enable them to develop their IT skills and enhance their career prospects.
Prerequisites
Good practical knowledge of how to use a computer. You should be able to use a mouse to select, open and close files and folders. You need to be aware of the file storage areas, such as My documents, desktop and hard drive. You should know how to ‘copy’ and ‘paste’, minimise and maximise a window, the difference between ‘save’ and ‘save as’ and how to switch between one open application and another.
