Using computers and managing files

 

   
Overview

This course covers computer file and folder management and develops key skills in using the Microsoft windows environment at home or in the office. Delegates will learn productive and efficient methods for working with computers. By the end of the course, delegates will have a complete understanding of the windows desktop and operating system.

Prerequisites
Good practical knowledge of how to use a computer. You should be able to use a mouse and keyboard. A PC at home or work would be beneficial but not essential.

Objectives   
• 
To introduce you to the Windows desktop and effective file and folder management.
•  To develop and increase your confidence in using the windows explorer and file icons and extensions.
•  To show you how the essential features of the windows search and help systems can increase your productivity.
•  You will be able to use the windows control panel to view system information and to change system settings such as the time/date, language, screen settings and other software and hardware related tasks.
•  By the end of the course you will have a thorough understanding of the computer file and folder management and will have developed key skills for use in the business environment and at home.

Qualifications
This course teaches module 2 of the 7 modules that comprise the ECDL. The ECDL is a qualification that's designed to prove that you have a fundamental understanding of working with IT. As well as working towards gaining a valuable qualification, you'll learn skills you can put into practice straight away.
